[Publib] RE: Publib Digest, Vol 47, Issue 5

This is not proposed legislation. Also, it is not part of the stimulus
package. This is part of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
What is in question is whether or not libraries are included in this
Act.

The stay is for one year on the enforcement of testing and certification
requirements.

The CPSC has, also, requested an emergency stay of the effective date of
Section 101(a)(2) which sets the lead content limits. The stay would be
for 185 days or until 90 days after the Commission issued final rules
implementing section 101.

Please clarify for me when you say "cooler heads have

prevailed". Is there some new news that I have not yet heard? The

last I heard is that this proposed legislation was still alive.

I will look forward to whatever news you may have.

Thanks,

Paul

The CPSC has "stayed" the implementation -- as it applies to books --

for a year. See their web site here:

And ALA's site: http://www.wo.ala.org/districtdispatch/?p=1713
