How to know you're a librarian down to your soles:
You get an iPhone from your company and download two applications: the
periodic table of the elements and Homer's Odyssey. Just in case you have to
answer any questions about either.
Meanwhile, your workmates download various intestinal noise generators,
sports scores and pictures of you-know-what. The Odyssey is the Samuel
Butler (1835-1902) translation.
"Tell me, O Muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after
he had sacked the famous town of Troy."
If anybody asks, you can tell them the atomic weight of copper or krypton.
Or even if they don't ask.
And so it goes. The rest of the phone's functions are merely garbage,
except for the features which allow you to read newspapers, and the compass and
the dog park finder.
