[Publib] 1st Amendment Rights

Ok but you're talking about a public figure who put herself into the
position where people wanted to dredge for dirt. Ditto Bush and Kerry. If
you want to be a politician you've got to expect that kind of scrutiny, and
you've probably also got to expect that the other side will spread lies. I
was referring to the general run of the mill person who posts to listservs,
answers e-mail, has a social networking page, and possibly blogs. Maybe
when I retire and if I run for Alderwoman, someone will want to know what
things I said on PubLib. Maybe, but probably not.

Dredge for dirt on someone???? Of course!!! Perhaps you missed the last
election cycle when half of the mainstream media was in Alaska "fishing"
for Palin dirt and the other half souring the Web. And the cycle before
that when both Kerry and Bush had their underwear checked very thoroughly.
