One thing regarding veterans, my brother was in the Navy. He developed
diabetes, and rather than pay to treat him the Navy dishonorably discharged
him. My family fought hard trying to overturn that. Even if they didn’t pay
him money, it was the principle of the thing. My brother ultimately died
following a transplant meant to cure him, and my family tried again to get his
status changed. But no dice.
They don't dishonorably discharge anybody for medical reasons. They
either discharged him honorably with a condition that was not service-related or
they dishonorably discharged him for something he did. When you are
discharged with a non-service related illness, you are sent to the Veterans
Administration system. If you want to know his discharge status, find his
DD-214 and give it a look.
