This is unprecedented, and completely unacceptable. It's not damage
control. It's just plain control.

Sending them copies of emails gives them all they need to know. They'll
have all the information they need.

Actually my first thought was "damage control." Address the false
rumors before they reach the MSM. They're not asking for names,
addresses, and phone numbers, after all.
