I went to the Bluewater Productions website: “Bluewater Productions brings a diverse library of titles and talent to the table. With stories that range from classic myths, science fiction and superheroes to Hollywood legends such as William Shatner, Roger Corman, Ray Harryhausen and Vincent Price, Bluewater is a fresh voice in comic publishing. We have now broken into biography comics with our titles FEMALE FORCE and POLITICAL POWER.”
Their “Female Force” series links to the Center for American Women and Politics, http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/about_cawp/index.php

IMO it’s a little early in Ms. Meyer’s career for her to be on the dais with Hillary Clinton and even Sarah Palin. How about Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, Gloria Steinem (if they’re limiting the series to women who are living). And a whole host of foremothers who have led the way: from Abigail Adams to Clara Barton to Eleanor Roosevelt to Bella Abzug. (One of my favorites is Margaret Brent: http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/speccol/sc3500/sc3520/002100/002177/html/brochure.html)

Last month we told you about the upcoming "Twilight" manga<http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/07/15/manga-style-twilight-graphic-novel-on-the-way/>, and now it looks like the massively popular series is making another splash in the comics world with an upcoming single-issue comic about "Twilight<http://splashpage.mtv.com/tag/twilight>" author Stephenie Meyer<http://splashpage.mtv.com/tag/stephanie-meyers>.

The next woman to be featured in Bluewater Productions' popular line of "Female Force" biography comics<http://splashpage.mtv.com/?s=%22female+force%22&x=0&y=0>, Meyer will join an impressive group that's included First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Princess Diana.

Written by Ryan Burton with art by Dave Macneil and Vinnie Tartamella, the comic promises to examine Meyer's rise to fame as an author, the "Twilight" phenomenon in print and film, and where Meyer plans to take the franchise. And "Twilight" fans take note: Burton has promised that "a very recognizable and iconic vampire" will narrate the issue.

Breaking from the mold of previous "Female Force" comics, the issue focusing on Meyer will also be available in two formats: a 22-page version and a "double-sized collector’s edition" that includes (among other extra material) an illustrated history Forks, the Washington town where her stories take place.

"Female Force: Stephenie Meyer" is scheduled to hit shelves in November, just before the next film in the "Twilight" saga, "New Moon," arrives in theaters.

“Stephenie Meyer has captured the imagination of millions. She has parlayed her stories into a cottage industry and that’s why we felt she was indeed a 'Female Force,'" said Bluewater’s president Darren G. Davis. “Also, I’m hooked on the books like everyone else!”

What do you think of the "Female Force: Stephenie Meyer" comic? Planning to pick it up?
