Does anyone on the list participate in a last copy center program? Just
wondering how prevalent they are . . .

A library would weed, check a "last copy center" to see if it holds the
copy; if so, weeding goes on as normal. If not, the copy is shipped to
the last copy center where it would be available in the off-chance
someone wanted to ILL it . . .

Whatever items do not sell at the Friends book sale, are offered to any
area nonprofits free of charge. All they have to do is come and pick
them up the next day or two. Whatever is left over after that is either
given to a recycling center or in the dumpster (items with mold, etc.).
We've done this for several years now.

	To all;

I'm trying to get an idea of how many libraries donate their
weeded or discarded books.

The books are slated for the dump, however I would like to see
them put to better use in our

local senior & rehab centers. These are the books that Better
World doesn't want & that have

not sold on the Freinds' shelf. I would think that if we can
donate to the Friends to sell, we would

be able to donate discards to any nonprofit organization.

I'm curious as to whether any municpal libraries are precluded
from donating such books & under what

	restrictions.

	Thanks much!
