[Publib] How to Shelve Oversize Books

Hi, Val,
At my branch we made a display for some of our oversized, arty, coffee
table books on top of our magazine shelves. The shelves are about 5" high,
so the books on top make them eye level. We've seen an increase of
circulation of these books since we started this over a month ago.
Another branch in our system is physically shifting their shelves as they
weed the collection. They are leaving a shelf on the bottom of each set of
shelves that's a few inches high, and they are shelving their oversized
books flat on this lowest shelf. This way the books stay with the rest of
their Dewey numbers, even if they aren't "in order" on the shelves above
them. You just have to look down to see if there's anything oversized in the
same Dewey section.
Hope this sparks some ideas for you!
-Keri
