Hi, everyone,

This is a heads up to all of you who work with dvds in your libraries.
Fox Studios has announced that they will be producing 2 versions of
their dvds from now on - one version, for the rental market
(Blockbuster, etc.) will have only the movie, and one artwork design on
the covers and one UPC number. The second version, for the retail
market, (Best Buy, etc.) will have the movie, bonus features, extra
discs, and a different UPC number, as well as saying "Retail Exclusive"
on the cover. Fox, in its wisdom, has placed public libraries in the
rental category. The first movie this affects is Slumdog Millionaire,
but others are to follow. This information came to Midwest Tape's
public library customers yesterday in an e-mail.

Additionally, some copies of Slumdog Millionaire were shipped with the
rental disc in a retail case. There is a Fox hotline to call to get the
replacement items - 1-888-223-4369 or SlumdogDVD.orderassistance.com.
There is also a contact for lodging a comment/complaint at Fox with
nancy.perfett at fox.com <mailto:nancy.perfett at fox.com?> .
