Dude, my terrier ate part of my face this year for no particular reason. I
mean, even my wife doesn't do that. Yet. The other terrier was shocked.
Guess who doesn't sleep with Daddy anymore? Right--the wife. Since I've
demonstrated my undesirability, I've been banished to the other bedroom.
This little incident (nine stitches, temporary loss of sensation in lip)
brings home that animals are always animals, and that they can become "untame"
very quickly. You can see the legal scenarios from allowing pets in a public
library. Besides, my dogs can't read anything more complicated than a dog
food bag. Whoops--that puts them with about half the human population.
