Not to be utterly humorless, but I wish that people wouldn't use
"allergic" in this sense, any more than "addicted" in the sense of "I'm
addicted to my Thursday-night television line-up."
People who have pet allergies are not animal-hating curmudgeons who just
can't appreciate other people's cute widdle pets. My husband could
quite literally die if exposed to excessive cat dander without his
medications.
And dog bites aren't particularly funny, either; I don't get a big
chuckle out of my scars.
Grumpily yours,
Lesley Knieriem

I have no problems with dogs or cats, but I do believe I'm highly
allergic to screaming babies and toddlers. They give me quite a
headache for some reason.
