We don't have a problem with patrons bringing in their pets. We do have a
problem with them leaving their dogs tied up right next to the front door.
We have patrons who are so frightened of dogs they will not enter the
building. I can't imagine what would happen if they encountered one in the
library.
My husband and I used to own a Quiznos and had a staff party at our home.
Our dog was in the backyard. One of our employees would not go into the
kitchen because that is where the backdoor is.
Perhaps because my husband is allergic to cats I am hyper sensitive to
bringing animals into public places. I would not want to be responsible for
someone's not being able to breathe due to their allergy to my dog.

We have found that a library is not an end in itself, but a means to many
ends.
