I remember when the reference desk at the public library kept a file on  
current events, filled with clippings and other information about items in the  
news.  Does anybody out there still do that?  How about online?
 
Here's something you can throw at those junior high kids who are looking  for 
a research paper topic with some zip.  Boys will like this  one.  Those 
Somali pirates are demanding 35 million for the ship they've  hijacked--the one 
loaded with tanks and guns.  The U.S. Navy has the  USS Howard (DDG-83) shadowing 
the ship.  
 
Anybody here old enough to remember the Mayaguez incident?  And is it  just a 
coincidence that this Somali event took place just days after  International 
Talk Like a Pirate Day?  Did something set them off?
