Hey Abigail!
Thanks a million for your spreadsheet of "mind changing" books. I think I
might work it up into a bookmark or something. It is fun to see the
diversity, isn't it? And, I am sure that this list will grow and grow and
grow... I remember when I was 13, one summer traveling with my Mom to New
England a year after my Dad's death... purchasing a paperback in the airport
that had a groovy cover. The title was "The Scene" and wow, did my young
eyes open. Little did I know it was about rock stars and groupies and very
graphic (at least for 1972). I learned a lot (I think) and remember holding
it towards the window so Mom wouldn't see what I was reading. Every now and
then I look for it, but have never found it. Wasn't as much "mind changing"
but an interesting preface to a coming of age summer with hot Boones Farm
and a quarry... but that's another story. It was a far cry from the Nancy
Drew of my innocent years...
