[Publib] Adult Book Club Ideas

Hi Rose --

I originally sent this link out back in June but it might not have appeared on publib. I had a spate of messages that disappeared into the ether then (but not lately so whatever that glitch was, it seems to be fixed.)
Also, if you check the publib archives from Nov. 2007 to Jan. 2008, you'll find some best of lists that I posted.  Also David Faulkner (apologies if I got the name wrong) collected a lost of postings from people about their favorites reads during '07.  Perhaps someone has a copy of the master list he put together and sent to people who replied to his request for recommendations.

This an interesting list that might appeal to your book club members.  It was put together by EW, so it leans more towards books with movie or tv tie-ins of some sort (e.g., the book may be the basis for the screenplay or it could be an Oprah pick) than some of the more literary roundups we see.
Nevertheless, this is an interesting list and public library patrons
might use it as a acquisitions checklist, as well as a source for book clubs.

My library has a book discussion group that meets once a month.  They
like fiction and nonfiction that is either literary or has won some sort of book
award.  I was asked to make a display of titles for them to choose from at
the meeting in October.  I have done this before and can not think of
titles to suggest.  If anyone out there can send suggestions that you have
personally read or a book group at your library is doing, it would help me a
lot.  Please send them off list and I will compile them to post to the
list.
Thanks.
