[Publib] Success stories for pre-overdue notices?

They're called "courtesy notices" generated by our ILS system - email messages remind folks that their items are due in a few days. Everyone thinks they are great (me too!) and the fact that they are automatically generated and require no staff time is even better.

Our old system did them and it was very popular. Our new system (well, two years and counting) does not. We have continued to receive vociferous complaints about that. We do let people know about Library Elf. That has calmed some of them.

I don't think stats showed much difference in return rates.

Happy Monday, PUBLIB'ers. I was wondering, do any of you have success stories for pre-overdue notices -- those lovely little reminders (email, phone, or even text-messaging) that alert patrons BEFORE their books are due?

The successes could be objective (for example, since implementing pre-overdues, more new books are returned before going overdue) or subjective (patrons have commented that they like the feature).

Responses to the list... to me... to the company president for Hydrox (well, maybe not the last one).
