We allow people to bring in flash drives and cameras. 3 of our desktops & 6
of our laptops have card readers built in to them, so that helps get around
the whole hooking up of the camera to the computer & possibly needing
drivers. We have Deepfreeze on all the stations so once it reboots it goes
back to a master state.

Subject: [Publib] Patron devices/hardware and public computers
Our computer workstation policy states, "Patrons may not use their own
hardware with or software on library computer workstations. Users may not
save or copy files on the hard drives of library computer workstations.
Only library-approved storage devices may be attached to library computers.
Patrons may not tamper with or reconfigure computer equipment, software, or
data belonging to the library." We have patrons that come in w/their digital
cameras wanting to download/upload photos, etc., but our IT department has
blocked that because many devices require drivers or other software to be
downloaded to the computer. I am hoping other libraries can share how they
handle these requests. I've been looking at other policies out there, but I
don't see any specifics/details on handling these sorts of requests.
Thanks in advance,
