[Publib] Book Discussion attendance

Our library, in addition to book clubs, schedules occasional book 
discussions on featured titles as components of community reads and in 
conjunction with Summer Reading Clubs and other activities; in other 
words, individual, one-time discussions not involving any established 
library reading group/club. These discussions involve a significant 
amount of staff time to prepare, but attendance at these has generally 
been poor.  We have tried lunch time and evening discussions with the 
same results. 

If others of you have had better luck with discussions like this, could 
you share your methods/secrets/suggestions.
