Dear Colleagues,
I would like to read about creative programming ideas for the Picturing
America grant.
I am interested in programming that encourages more involved with the
pictures than merely listening to a teacher or professor to talk about a
picture.
(Since I work mostly with public libraries, I think in terms of
"patrons," not "students.")
Three programming ideas I thought of are:
- Book talks about library books related to the topics of the pictures.
Start the talk with a brief explanation of the picture and the Picturing
America grant program, then talk about the library books.
- Asking patrons vote on their favorite picture and explain the reason.
Post their explanations beside the picture.
- Asking a class of students to present a program on their favorite
picture.
The class, for example, could do a skit about one picture.
Or each class member could present to the public a three minute speech
explaining why they like a specific picture or answering some of the
questions in the teacher's guide about their chosen picture.
WHAT PROGRAMMING IDEAS DO YOU HAVE?
-- Thanks
