[Publib] department restructuring

Hello everyone,
The outreach services department at my library is likely to be
restructured. Currently, the basic function of our department is to
select and deliver materials to nursing homes, retirement centers, and
senior housing facilities. We also serve the homebound and coordinate
library volunteers. We are a small department of 2.33 FTE.
The department may expand to include all of the above plus programming,
public relations & graphics, and the website. This would mean that
Outreach would absorb one department - public relations & graphics, and
take over the programming and website responsibilities that are
currently divvied up amongst Adult Services and Youth Services.
I am hoping the collective wisdom of this group will help me to develop
a job description for the manager who oversees this new "Outreach
Department". To say I am also hoping for advise on the most politic way
of transitioning would be an understatement.
If you are the manager of such a department or have or oversee a
department such as that intended by my library, I would greatly
appreciate your input. I would especially appreciate information on
department structure and samples of job descriptions.
