We do allow others to pick up holds for an individual if that person has
listed a "the other" as a proxy. It does require a message on their
record that the individual doing the checkout has to read and respond to
- but it reduces stress for both staff and user. Patrons desiring to
name proxies do have to complete a form and sign.

Hello,
I'm posting this query on behalf of my circulation & children's dept.
colleagues. Do you allow patrons to pick up holds for family members,
spouses or children, or for others (not family)?
If so, what are the requirements? Do you require proof of identity,
possession of the card for the person whose hold it is, a permission
message
in their record? (Our staff is resisting yet another message since they
must check every message at checkout).
Thanks for your help; I'm sure there are as many methods as there are
libraries, but we are looking for some fresh ideas.
