I've done discussions on a few that may work for you - they all have unique
aspects that seem to stimulate discussion.

SHUTTER ISLAND by Dennis Lehane (locked room mystery)

KILLER SMILE by Lisa Scottoline (about little known WWII internment camps
for Italians)

PLAIN TRUTH by Jodi Picoult (infanticide in the Amish country)

SHADOW OF THE WIND by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (translated, set in a secret library
of books in Barcelona)

and for something more classic, perhaps THE MOONSTONE by Wilkie Collins.

Subject: [Publib] Mystery recommendation

I am looking for a recommendation for a mystery that would generate a really
good discussion for our book group, all women in their 20's through 70's.
Length is important since this will be a December book. Several years ago
they did "The Maltese Falcon."

Please respond off list.

Thanks,
Mamie
