I've also worked with both high and low desks, and much prefer the high
ones. My last library had height-adjustable office chairs, so it was
possible to sit if necessary at the high desk, but still be at eye level
with patrons. My current library has low desks, and I end up standing to
talk to patrons and stooping to use the computer because I hate looking up
at them. It makes me feel like I'm telling them they're not important enough
to stand and speak eye-to-eye with if I'm sitting.
