Hi Marita,

There is an open source reader called NVDA (http://www.nvda-project.org/) I have never used it so I cannot vouch for its efficacy. NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) is a free and open source screen reader for the Microsoft Windows operating system

Hope this helps!

Subject: [Publib] Help Please

To the Collective Memory Bank,
I have searched the archives to no avail so I am hoping someone out there remembers and can help me - one of our libraries has a legally blind patron and they are searching for options to help this patron read the computer screen, websites, use software, etc. I know Windows XP has some built in accessibility options but that has not worked very well. Unfortunately, this is a very small library with little money (especially after facing budget slashing this month) so they are looking for free or close to free options (aren't we all!). I vaguely remember someone posting a website that can be used in some cases to help "read" for the patron? Any and all suggestions would be very helpful; I would love to pass it on for our library to help this patron as best they can! TIA
