I would like to know why these questions are being asked. Will there be
a national event that requires dissemination of "information"? Sorry to
be suspicious, but I am.

Jessica-

Public libraries vary greatly in the ability to serve as the point of
information for the U.S. government. Many of our libraries have become
the de facto provider of IRS information and depending on the community
serve as the primary information clearinghouse for other agencies as
well.

Please don't recommend burdening libraries with printing out electronic
documents on demand. Fiscal and staff allocations are already limited
for many of us. The demand could be very sporadic and light. But past
experience tells me that it's more likely the demand level would tax
libraries. No pun intended!

Please don't recommend talking points to questions that might be asked.
This kind of information could be provided on an agency's web site and
put to good use by many agencies and citizens, not just library staff.

Would the information be in demand by our customers? If so, a tri-fold
document in sufficient supply to meet community needs would be the best
choice.

Best regards-

The government is interested in libraries being a point of information.
It would be helpful if you could provide me with answers to the
questions below, so that I can have a better idea of what libraries are
willing and capable of doing.

What would be easiest for you?

    - Being provided with an electronic document that you could print
out for patrons as needed

    - Being provided with the actual tri-fold document that can be
displayed

    - Being provided with talking points to questions that might be
asked

I look forward to receiving your input!
