Do you ever have things you think you remember from library school, but then when you try to find documentation you can't seem to find it?
I think I remember learning that live plants should not be inside library buildings for a number of reasons, including parasites, water, possible molds that grow in soil, etc. But I can't remember how I know this, and I'd like to find some source that I can share with my new staff so we can get rid of them.
It's not that I don't want greenery, and my plan is to ask the Friends to purchase some nice silk plants. I just think they are messy and I would prefer not to have anyone spend the time and effort it takes to maintain indoor plants so they are healthy and attractive.
Please share any sources you know of, or feel free to refute my position on plants. I have to confess that I have the thumb of death when it comes to plants, so it may be the most humane thing to do to remove them from the building before the curse kicks in.
