[Publib] wtb: used book carts

Hi, John --

You might check around campus for a carpenter/carpentry shop.  When we got to the point that 2 book carts were insufficient -- the archival boxes pulled for visiting researchers and book sale leftovers left us with 0 carts for shelving and cataloging/processing new items -- we had the museum carpenters construct 2 more for us and they were great.

We needed oversize wheels because the ramp into the Spacesaver System was steep and crossing the floor rails was a bit tricky (providing a great challenge to newly hired students or new volunteers -- we'd explain to them they needed to take it slowly and demonstrate but almost everyone tipped a cart before catching on).  The oversize wheels were no problem for the museum carpenters and the new carts arrived stained cherry (and with a non-reactive enamel approved by the museum conservator) to match the circulation desk and panels on the ends of the Spacesaver rows -- a much better solution than buying commercial, imho.

Does anyone happen to know of a source to buy used book
carts?

Thanks.
