My favorite books published in 2008 are:

 

In defense of food by Michael Pollan.

 

When you are engulfed in flames by David Sedaris, though his earlier
books are better.

 

Lastly, since I'm a YA librarian, Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer,
though not enjoyed by lots of teens, I have to say I think the author
wrapped this series up well, and it helped continue with the reading
momentum that started with Harry Potter.
