My biggest reaction wasn't The Day After, but last night.
I sat on my couch and cried. I cried tears of sadness that my candidate
didn't win, but I also cried tears of joy.
As someone who grew up in the 60s and 70s there were certain things I didn't
think I would ever see happen, but they have. In the late 70s I visited
East Germany as a US Army soldier and felt that things would never change.
Just a decade later the Berlin wall came down. I cried tears of joy.
I remember waking up from the sounds of the Watts riots as a child. Today I
am offering my prayerful support for Barrack Obama. Whether you want to
focus on him as an African American, son of an immigrant, bi-racial, or some
other category used to describe him, PE Obama has broken down a wall. I
cried tears of joy.
To keep this library related. If you happen to be at the YALSA symposium
this weekend find me and we can clink glasses of syrah. If I'm lucky the
hotel will have a bottle of Palin Syrah.

We have found that a library is not an end in itself, but a means to many
ends.
