[Publib] Friday Question

Susan,
What a great question. I've really enjoyed reading others answers.

I love being a librarian because I can't afford to pay my overdue fines.
:-P Seriously, I love making a difference in people's lives!

I love watching that click, whether it's matching someone with a new
book or author, helping someone find an answer to a question or just
listening to someone who needs to vent. I helped a long distance dad
find his teenage daughter's obituary when she was killed in a car
accident a few years ago. Wow that was powerful! I have the added
benefit of making a difference in the community that I live in.

My mom is a retired reference librarian and I learned from one of the
best! I am passionate about libraries and the difference we make in
people's lives. Fortunately, I work in a small enough community that I
get to see that difference all the time, at the library and out in the
community.

As Kathleen put it, I am so blessed to have found a profession I love,
that allows me to share my passion for reading and learning and earn a
living at the same time.

Thanks so much, Susan, for asking the question.

Subject: [Publib] Friday Question

Hope you all are enjoying as beautiful a day as we are here in NW Ohio.
I have asked this question once, but would like to get additional
responses. Why do you love your job? What makes you passionate about
what you do?
Thanks. Looking forward to reading your responses.
