[Publib] 3M security gates question

Hello PubLib,
I am having a set of 3M security gates pulled out of a branch and I need to dispose of them. I spoke with 3M and know there are electronic components inside, so I have to treat them as electronics for disposal.  I can't have our general large item or furniture pickup places take them.

But they are very big.

Does anyone know if I can break or take them apart and pull out the electronic components and then dispose of the material separately?  I can't imagine this would be easy as these as ours at the main library can take a beating and are still standing.  I could charge in there with a saw, but I don't know where the electronics are inside, and what is just sturdy supportive material.  I'm calling electronic disposal and recycling places today, but I don't know if they will take the full large gates when they are more used to TVs and such.

Or, does anyone want them?  I'm in Torrance, CA (South of LA, north of Long Beach).  We expect to pull them out with a branch project in October.
