It would be great if responses were shared with the list. We, too, are
considering a similar program.

Thank you.

Subject: [Publib] Bestseller rental programs

Does anyone out there have a bestseller rental program that they are
willing to share the details? The article in Public Libraries
concerning the Bestseller Express program at Des Moines IL Public
Library is what we are looking at doing here. I need information on the
following:

How much do you charge?

How do you distinguish the express/rental books from the rest of the new
materials?

How do you promote this service?

On average how many copies do you rent on a monthly or yearly basis (and
how large is your library/library system)

If you are a multi-branch system how do you determine how many
rental/express copies of each title goes to each branch?

Are you using this just with bestseller print material or have you also
used it with DVDs, etc..?

Anything else you want to share - pros/cons, patron response, etc...

You may respond directly to me and I will compile for the list if there
is interest.
