The New Members Round Table (NMRT) cordially invites you to join us at our
Resume Review Service at the ALA Placement Center. We are seeking public
librarians with experience in hiring, human resources and/or search
committees to review resumes for our popular service. All we ask for is one
hour of your time.
Librarians who have volunteered in the past have had this to say about the
experience:
I enjoyed this a great deal and would enjoy doing it again at midwinter.
It was a real pleasure. Sorry I could only do one hour. Pls ask me for
Midwinter too.
I very much enjoyed it. I realized after I signed up that I probably
shouldn't have taken the time, since I had other meetings, but I decided
after being there that it was worth it no matter what.
I thought this was one of the most important things I did at ALA this year.
My biggest surprise was discovering that my first 2 job seekers were
career-changers. I had been expecting young people trying to get into the
profession. Chalk that one up to my lack of experience with this volunteer
opportunity.
Being a resume reviewer has been one of the highlights of recent ALAs. I'd
love to do it again, but unfortunately will not be going to Anaheim. I'll be
happy to do it next MidWinter! I think it's a wonderful service to offer -
hope you have lots of great volunteers!
The service will be located in HALL D of the Convention Center, in ALA's
Placement Center and will operate during the following hours:
Fri, June 27: noon to 5 p.m.
Sat, June 28: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sun, June 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mon, June 30: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
We have a particular need for reviewers during these time slots:
Friday: 3-5
Saturday: noon-5
Sunday: 10-11, 2-5
Monday: 9-noon
Please let me know if we can count on you. Thanks!
Laura
