[Publib] How many spaces past the decimal do you use in Dewey?

Hi All -
I have proposed changing the number of spaces past the decimal in Dewey
from six to three at our library. I'm aware that it might result in a
less perfect shelf arrangement, but I think it would make it easier for
patrons (and even librarians!) to find items.
I would really appreciate feedback from libraries that use three spaces
past the decimal point, especially those who changed from other
arrangements. Has it worked well for you? How would you compare
advantages and disadvantages? We are a medium sized public library, so
input from libraries of a similar size would probably be most helpful.
Thank you in advance!
