[Publib] Books By Mail Programs

Hi everyone,

In the last few years I've given a description of our Books by Mail program on this list. You can find my posts in the archives; since I really should be working on our migration to Symphony instead of reading Publib I'm going to let you look in the archives for the posts. :-) However, I will say that this is one feature we are carrying over from classic Dynix into Symphony and we may be expanding to our general patron database (currently it's limited to about 300 patrons who have signed up for the service.) This is, by far and away, the single service we offer that generates the most "love letters" to the library director and his superiors. It's not cheap, but your patrons will love you for offering it.

Good luck,
Gair

Ditto! Please share with the list, especially the "convenience" aspect.

Thanks!

I'm interested in doing books by mail too, but also for people who just want the convenience of home delivery and are willing to pay for it.  Anyone doing that?

I am interested in starting a "Books by Mail" program at my library for those patrons who are physically incapable of coming into the library itself.  I am interested in learning how other similar programs work and if there is a way to do this at low cost.

Thank you,
