"My books are like water; those of the great geniuses are wine.
(Fortunately) everybody drinks water."
-Mark Twain

Most of my favorites aren't fiction writers, sadly:

Everytime someone apologizes for not reading something they are
returning, I paraphrase some or all of a Schopenhauer quote:

"Buying books would be a good thing if one could also buy the time to
read them in: but as a rule the purchase of books is mistaken for the
appropriation of their contents."

"No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for
reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance."

-Confucius

Subject: [Publib] book quotes

When we moved into our new library four years ago I had to make signs
for the end of the ranges. In our fiction area I decided to include a
quote at the top of the sign by an author whose last name would fall
into that range. Thus I have my favorite quote by Groucho Marx on the
Fic Mar-Mic section sign so that it looks like:

"Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend.

Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."

~ Grouch Marx

What's your favorite book-related quote?

I'll compile the list for anyone that want's it.
