[Publib] Counting Reference Questions

In our department we have several categories for our statistics. We have
reference, which is pretty much what you would think.  We have research
which is generally considered a search that takes a significant period of
time to complete.  Genealogy questions are prime examples of research.  Next
is reader advisory.  We also count when we place reserves.  We also have
technology questions.  These are helping people with the computer or the
photocopier.  Yes, I know that is a poor use of reference librarians, but
the way the building is designed we are the only ones who are close enough
to cope.  We also count directional questions, for the collection and for
others. 

Ultimately how you count the questions depends on what you're trying to
measure or determine.  Counting technology questions separately may help you
determine that you need a tech clerk to assist with them.
