[Publib] Experient or not for ALA Anaheim?

I have used a number of different resources for reserving an airline ticket and getting a hotel/motel. I did use the ALA travel service once and got a good price that time on a ticket.

Lately I have been using www.kayak.com to find a flight and sometimes a hotel. The site leads you directly to the airlines after you have seen the possibilities. I have found that I can often get a better price by going directly to the airline than any other way.

I have also used Travelocity and Expedia but then they started charging a small fee so I switched. They may no longer be charging a fee. I don't know because I haven't used them in a while.

You can always check out the possibilities using these other options and then call the ALA service and see what they offer. If you don't like the price and flights they give you it is easy to go back to one of the other sites.

=============
Greetings.

I'm a new librarian attending ALA Annual Conference for the first time.
Tomorrow, I reserve hotel and flight from St. Louis to Anaheim. The ALA
website says Experient is the official travel service and offers discounts.
I do not have the experience to know if Experient is really going to save
money or not -- if it charges fees, if it limits me to expensive flights,
and so forth. I do plan to stay in one of the conference hotels, assuming a
room is still available, but I want a cheap flight.

What is your experience? Shall I go with the official service company, or
cobble it together myself directly with the hotel and with one of the
airline booking companies like Expedia?

Thanks for all help!
