Manitowoc Public Library

The Manitowoc Public Library is looking for an experienced librarian to 
manage the personnel and programs of its reference and technical 
services departments. We are a busy library in the biggest community in 
two counties, in a beautiful facility located in the heart of 
Manitowoc’s downtown, which also happens to be a deep water shipping 
port on Lake Michigan. MPL is a member of the L.A.R.S. consortium and 
migrated to the SirsiDynix Unicorn platform a year ago.

The Information Services Department head will administer the programs 
and services of the department we call Information & Adult Services, 
which encompass serving the public at the reference desk, collection 
development, some adult programming, overseeing the provision of local 
history and genealogy, assisting patrons in use of the public computers, 
and similar services. The person will also supervise the operations of 
the Technical Services department, which orders, processes and catalogs 
MPL’s collections.

The position calls for someone who shares the values of access and 
convenience for customers, experience in budgeting, planning, 
supervision and training; current knowledge of trends in libraries, 
including Web 2.0 capabilities, excellent communication skills, ability 
to act as a member of a management team, and a good sense of humor. A 
Master’s Degree in Library Science and 3-5 experience in a library are 
also required.

The hiring range for the position begins in the high 40’s, with an 
excellent benefits package.
