[Publib] Point of Use Promotion of E-Databases to Print ReferenceUsers

We too have handouts at the reference areas with explanations of the databases, and how to access them from within the library or via our website. Occasionally, the Sr. Librarian will hold a class in how to search the databases, but the problem is enticing the public to come to the classes. Most of the time, the patrons expect that we will do the searches for them in the library, and rarely want to learn. Any ideas on how to motivate the public? We've been trying to come up with some topics of interest that may draw the patrons to the classes.

>We publish a database handout which we update every 6 months or so. These handouts are then strategically placed around the library - by the computers, at reference sections, at the issues and information desks. The handout lists all the databases available and a brief explanation of each database. Also provides instructions on how to access the databases either in the library, or at home via the library website.

>We're beginning to explore ways to promote our reference databases to user of print reference at the point of use. Has anyone found or developed effective markers, signs, etc., to place within, above, or around the reference shelves or books to alert customers to the vast amount of information available in related subject databases?
