[Publib] background music in libraries

As a former radio personality, my first question would be are you talking
about a commercial radio station playing in the library? With ads for car
dealers and bars and DJs doing remotes from the opening of a new
supermarket? With promos and clips from today's "Crazy Morning Crew" show
playing all day long?

I think public libraries are where people go to get away from that kind of
"noise" for smarter sounds and thoughts.

The easy listening, "elevator music" format on radio (Montovani, Percy
Faith, etc.) died off over a decade ago and I don't know that anybody even
records that kind of material anymore. You might find the odd station
playing softer jazz or classical, which might work, but, I think in this
case, we're better off giving in to those who make jokes about us and
trying to keep things quiet[er].
