[Publib] Travel DVDs

This is a nice three disc series by the BBC that combines the

wit of Monty Python's Michael Palin, with the adventurous

scope of Jules Verne's classic:

Michael Palin: Around the World in 80 Days

I think that he eats cobra in one of the locals, everyone does it.

I also enjoyed Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation series.

He may be too hip for Waco, though. :-)

I don't recommend the any of the Globe Trotter travel series. These feature
hip young folks apparently going around the globe in search of cheap
recreational drugs. I've seen two, the one for India where the
narrator/traveler smokes marijuana, and one for Argentina where the
narrator/traveler partakes of cocaine with the locals...explaining that
while it is illegal, everyone does it.

Our Library is interested in showing some travel DVDs this summer as a part
of our adult summer reading program. Do you have suggestions for titles of
quality travel DVDs? I found that Amazon lists ones getting good user
reviews from the Discovery Channel that are a part of the "Passport to.."
series with Samantha Brown. Have you viewed any DVDs from this series? I'd
be interested if they have public performance rights as well.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
