I don't do the circ stats and the person who does is working on the report
from Hades that, if her hair weren't already pure white, would turn it snowy
so I'm not asking her. However, I can give you some anecdotal evidence. I
do a short column for the book section of our Sunday paper on five related
new books. The book editor has told me that she gets requests for fewer
lists of fiction and more for cookbooks, crafts, sports, travel, politics,
and biography. My column on football books was only the second time
something from the book page topped the paper's search hits. (Mention JoePa
in Pennsylvania and you get people's attention.)

The suggestion for non-fiction CDs is also good. We recently added some
sets from the Teaching Company. I thought they'd go out occasionally
because they can be rather stuffy lecture, but they fly off the shelves.
