With so many movies releasing unrated versions on DVD, I was wondering what thoughts others might have on a particular situation that happened at our library.

If a very popular movie, which was rated R in the theatres, is released on DVD as only the unrated version or the rated R version and the unrated version are packaged together, do you still buy the movie?  Our library's collection development policy states we cannot order unrated movies.  There was quite a large discussion on what to do (I work in the Technical Services department so I do not have the full details).  Our library eventually decided to circulate the unrated movie (it also came with the R rated version).

So what are some policies or suggestions regarding this?
