[Publib] meal reimbursement

We reimburse staff for all transportation expenses, and pay the
conference rate for hotels. Meals are reimbursed according to the per
diem for meals recommended the USGSA. You can find their per diem under
travel resources at: http://www.gsa.gov/Portal/gsa/ep/home.do?tabId=0

The government rate generally seems pretty reasonable for the cities
that I know, and it is adjusted up and down regularly to accurately
reflect the actual cost of meals in the city. All professionals are
eligible for ALA or PLA, and we often send staff at all levels to
exhibits when the Conferences are in Chicago.

Subject: [Publib] Meal Reimbursement

We are in the process of revising our travel reimbursement policy.
Currently, we reimburse all airfare costs, hotel accommodations, parking
and/or car rental, and conference registration fees. The only thing we
do not reimburse are meals, which is what I'd like to add. What is your
library's policy on the above? Additionally, do you open conference
(ALA & PLA specifically) attendance to everyone or management staff and
librarians only? Thanks!
