I haven't heard the complaint lately, but earlier in the history of
audiobooks, one publisher was Listening Library, and many of the books
they recorded were British titles read by British readers. We had a lot
of complaints from a wide variety of patrons - all ages, both genders,
who disliked the British readers - they couldn't understand the accents.
