Juliet,

Perhaps contacting a list of school librarians might help? I do not know if
high school libraries might collection this title due to the fact that one
or more of their students would be listed. As I remember, there is only 1
volume of this work for the country, at least for those years. (I happened
to be listed in the 80-81 volume). As for the page number - good luck, they
have lots of pages. You would think that they would be listed in OCLC, but
maybe not.

I am curious as to why he wants the copy? If my memory is correct, this work
was only "semi-prestigious". You got in for free, but had to pay a nice fee
to buy your copy. My folks did all the paperwork when I was listed, and by
the time my sister hit high school, were slightly wiser.

Good luck,

Andrea Berstler

Subject: SPAM-LOW: [Publib] Who's Who Among American High School Students

Hello,

I am assisting a library customer who is trying to locate the 1979-80
edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students. He recalls being
featured in the publication when he was a high school student in Florida
approximately 30 years ago and wants a photocopy of his biographical sketch.
We would be happy to request the page that features his sketch through
interlibrary loan. However, we need to know in which volume and what on page
his sketch appears.

He has called libraries that appear to have the multivolume work (according
to WorldCat) only to find that they do not actually have the title in their
collection, or they carry editions that do not feature students in Florida.
He tried to locate the publication through an online dealer, but the dealer
had a California edition only.

In addition to contacting libraries, he is calling high schools in Florida
to see if any of them happen to own copies of the publication, but it's
summertime and he's having troubling getting anyone to return his calls.

He also tried contacting Educational Communications, Inc., the publisher of
Who's Who Among American High School Students, but according to the
customer, the company just recently went out of business.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that I could pass on to this
customer?

Thank you,

Juliet Douglas
