Well, librarians are people, too, and sometimes tempers flare. It's not
usual, but a few times a year something seems to touch a nerve and things
get harsh. On those occasions, I just start deleting anything in the thread.
The vast majority of postings to the list (in the many years I've been on
it) are helpful and encouraging.

Hey PubLib-bers!

As a newbie (n00b) to this list, I'm still a little inexperienced with the
nuances of the group. I've been enjoying some of the discussions on
programming and such, but there's a lot of content I've been skimming or
skipping lately. A lot of emails seem to be a bit, urm, flame-y. A touch
harsh here and there. I'm actually kind of disappointed so far. I've been
on other listservs that were more informational in nature and where,
honestly, people were a little kinder to each other. (I always thought
librarians were so nice.) Am I seeing a fluke here, or is this the norm for
this list?

Thanks in advance
