Ah, isn't tax season taxing? *grins*

Towards the end of tax season, the Business and Technology Division put
out a little stand containing federal and DC tax booklets in the
entrance vestibule. This was for quick grabs. Patrons who needed
additional forms had to go to the Business and Tech. Division reading
room.

Most patrons who came to me knew what they needed although I got a few
in person or on the phone asking for tax advice. For that, I would say
that we couldn't give tax advice and mention our volunteer tax service.
(Looking back, I could have mentioned the DC Tax Office as an option) We
had also volunteer tax preparation service here at MLK and in several of
the branches.

As for our newspapers, we keep the "Washington Post," "NY Times," and
"USA Today" at the reference desk, stamped with our division name on the
front pages. "Baltimore Sun," "Richmond Times-Dispatch," and
"Philadelphia Inquirer" (also stamped) are on a spinning carrel. We
keep them for a week and toss them. However we keep the "NY Times" for
up to a month and/or until we get the microfilm version of it. Patrons
who need older "Post" editions must go to our Washingtoniana Division.
