Sue,
When you use the term 'We' is it an imperial we or
a presumptive representation of the list readership?
Simple anagram:
Mendocino (County) Ukiah (CA)
Haiku, I enjoy your intellect and insight. :-)

May I suggest that Haiku Onicodnem identify him/herself. We have no idea
where s/he lives or which library s/he uses or is employed by.

We are considering revamping the way we shelve our newspapers--we put the
current issues on wooden sticks and keep the older issues on flat shelves
for a month. We've had a lot of patron complaints about the sticks, and the
papers are invariably taken off them and strewn all over.
Could you let me know:
--what are user-friendly alternatives to wooden sticks
--how many issues (week, month, etc.) do you keep out easily available to
the public
--anything else useful you can think of regarding newspapers!
Could you please be more specific about patron complaints concerning the
poles/sticks? I've always thought of them as quite efficient and tidy.
I'm not sure of anything more "user friendly" than just lying them flat, but
inevitably I see "loose" papers disassembled far more often.
I'd say a daily should have a full week, maybe 8 days worth on the open
shelves. A weekly or monthly, two or three issues.
